Windy Knoll Golf Club opened in 2001 but being one of the newer golf courses in Springfield hasn't stopped it from gaining a reputation as one of the area's best public plays. It has a traditional links design that utilizes many of the features of the original horse farm that formerly occupied the site. The course is seemingly easy but there are many risk-reward opportunities that will challenge even the most experienced players. The slick, fast greens provide excellent putting surfaces and the fairways are well manicured. Water hazards come into play on several holes and the stands of mature trees that can be found throughout require accuracy, but the thick rough that lines the fairways is an especially tricky feature of the golf course. Windy Knoll G.C. finishes with its longest hole, which has not one but two water hazards.
