It's Early but...
Challenging course, not for beginners or those with patience.
4/25/14: The fairways are in great shape but the sand traps are growing trees and haven't been touched all year. They still have leaves everywhere which is annoying. I was told skunks have eaten at the greens but the greens are just a mess, unplayable. Avoid until they fix.
Course in really bad shape
I know we had a bad winter in this area but the course looked as if no spring cleaning had been done. The greens are all covered in sand with big holes and gouges. (not to be confused with holes from when they aerate the greens) The fairwaysand tee boxes haven't been mowed. Also, there are last falls leaves still packed in all over the course. It is really bad. Ive played here in the past and gave the course good reviews too. On a positive note, the staff did acknowledge the conditions and gave me money off of my round. I just wish they'd get out there and fix all the issues.
Beautiful surroundings
This course has lots of beautiful trees and is challenging unless you hit it straight every time! The course was in great condition but it's a public course so a lot of players don't fix their ball marks on the greens. Will play it again.
Amazing Value
Have played there twice in the past month. Course forces you to hit iron off the tee and play with many of the clubs in your bag. It is in pretty good shape. Guy at the desk in the pro shop was not very receptive either time I visited. Played there for $18 the first time, $12 the second. Both awesome deals, would play there for $25+.
very challenging course
Nice course. Need to keep ball in play. Otherwise, going to be a long day.
Keep it in play
I played the tips on a wet morning. The course isn't long, but you must keep the ball in the fairway. Its a tight course with smaller greens, but the greens hold nicely and are faster than they look. A few holes have a weird layout, but if you take what the course gives you, you will be able to have many opportunities for good scores.
The pace of play is horrible, there is no monitoring and the staff couldn't care less.
We had to cut our round by 4 holes in order to leave after 4 hr 15 min. There was a five some on the course and several four some groups that had no idea what "ready golf" is. At the turn we asked the on duty " kid" to go out and monitor and just speed it up to fill open holes and he did nothing. This used to be a nice place to play, however, the management must have fallen asleep.
Fantastic Course
The course was in excellent condition. The scenery was beautiful. I can not wait to play it again.
Great course with hard to score putting greens.
Nice course to play with hard greens to read and score on. Course was in great condition except for the sand traps that didn't have much sand in them. Me and a friend played early in the morning 7:20 and flew through the course. Play here a few times a year. Unless you're putting extremely well you can add about 3 strokes or more per side. Like the challenge. Will be back.
Good Course for the money
Course was in pretty good overall condition. The tee boxes could definitely use some work though. Course was pretty empty for a beautiful Saturday morning. I don't know if I would pay the running rate of $48. Also, the course management was definitely lacking. We didn't see one worker on the course and two kids were running the proshop and grill.
Course is Nice, Staff Not So Much
I had not played Wicked Woods for 15 years and was looking forward to playing it again.( It's just too hard for most of the people I play with.) We played 18 holes and the course was in nice shape although with all the rain we've had, the greens were slow. I remember super fast greens in the past. The layout is nice and the course has a lot of character. The young man who checked us in was nice enough, but the manager and/or pro was not a pleasant person. I guess anyone can have a bad day, but we did not feel welcome. A couple other employees were just OK, not friendly, just there. Maybe grumpy guy drags them down. We had two complaints, NO BEER SOLD ON SUNDAY, and no restrooms on the course. Our female golfers were not happy campers because of that. I suggest playing the course and enjoy your round. Maybe you'll have better luck with staff than we did.
Not good.
This course was not maintained. Trash at every hole, Cart path was hard to use.
Nice Course
Course was in good shape and very changeling. Tee Boxes were my main complaint. Really good value for the money. I'd recommend.
Pleasant round.
Booked last minute on July 4th around noon. Was done in 3.5 hours. Course was in the best shape Ive even seen. You might want to avoid this course if you're a beginner though as it has some really tough holes with forced carries and lots of trees and elevation changes. Greens were in pretty good shape. Fairways needed cut BUT I'll give the course a pass due to the unbelievable amount of rain the area has had. Was pleasantly surprised it wasn't CPO. All in all its a course worth playing especially with the great rates on GolfNow.
Wicked Woods lives up to it's name...
The course was in above average shape. The greens were not that fast due to some recent rain. As said by other reviewers before, this course is pretty tight and rewards shot accuracy and placement. You will use most of the clubs in your bag and it will make you think. There are some fantastic views with some severe elevation changes. It is well designed and well maintained. With the great value that GolfNow provides and a very good course, I will definitely make the 35 min return trip.
Tight course..
Not for the faint of heart or easily frustrated... Every hole has some sort of semi or fully wooded area. Lose a shot left or right, and there's a good chance its gone... Pretty fun layout, and brutally sloped, lightning fast greens.. Very scorable if you hit the ball straight. Good Luck.
Fast greens
The staff could be a lot more friendly and most of the clientele was seniors so the pace of play is pretty slow. You'll use every club in your bag; I hit driver only 3 times, and keep the ball below the hole. The greens were the fastest I've played all year, maybe a 10 1/2- 11 on the stimp meter.
Bring your "A" game
THe course was in good conddition. THe terrain was very challenging. Seems like every shot is to a significant elevation change, often from sidehill lies. All in all, a very good test.
lots of trees undulating greens
difficult reading greens ,had 24 putts on back nine,4 putt on 1st par 3,greens fast and unpredictable, but nice course layout, will be back
Nice course
Very good shape. Tough but fair golf course. Need to play course 3/4 times before you really get a feel for the layout
