New Owners making a difference.
This course was always a good layout but poorly maintained.
I was very pleased with all the work put in. Great shape and obvious they have worked hard. Well done!
Pretty good
Nice course. Tricky greens are challenging. Some elevated tees. Very fun over all.
Trees and changes elevation
This is a fun course that is surrounded by trees with hills and valleys on every hole. Greens have tons of slope for small greens. They were slow soft and wet because it rained the a lot the day before.
disappointed
This place used to be close to perfection in conditions. tee boxes looked like some treelawns bunkers basically gone hard pan everywhere its a tough enough course but declining conditions make for a long frustrating round .
Awesome course
I played at Wicked Woods for the first time on August 19 and its easily my new favorite course. The entire course is in great condition and the staff members were extremely friendly. Both the front and back of the course present challenges for any level of golfer. I definitely recommend this course.
Not in good shape
The price was right but the course condition was poor. Fairways are very bumpy and straggly. Greens were slow and bumpy. Golf cart was beat up and wobbly. I played this course three years ago and it was in decent shape and very pretty. It has really gone downhill!
Pay attention to the name
First time playing the course. Tree lined with thick shrubs/vegetation in sections of the rough. Small streams and dropoffs along some holes. A lot hillier than expected, several blind shots. Some very narrow fairways. Quite a few shots require you to hit over wasteland or water. Sprayed shots most likely resulted in lost balls. Greens and fairways were in very good condition. Rough was tough in most cases-difficult finding balls also. A few tee boxes were rough. On doglegs, on a few occasions off the tee we either hit thru the fairway or came up short-would have liked to see more info regarding this on score sheet or on tee markers. Not a long course but very tough if your not hitting it consistently straight. The name is correct its wicked if your in the woods.
Very Tough
Extreme greens make this rolling hills style golf course difficult to score on.
This course is intended for the experienced golfer.
with a little investment this course could be great
This is an excellent skill shot course that needs some loving. The greens are small, firm and undulating. They putted extremely slow. Tee boxes are in horrible shape and every shot is blind. Leave your driver in the car not worth breaking it out. There was only one staff member working apparently but she was pleasant but it slowed things down. If the kids that inherited the course would either invest some money on clean up and maintenance or sell it to someone that would this course could be a gem. The view is wonderful. I will play again because it is a great skill shot challenge.
a different type of golf course
great conditions. firm greens with minimal bumps. a challenging course but not due to length. a real treat in geauga county. i dont know of any other course like this. different kind of holes that aren't quirky for the sake of different.
Challenging
Tough course. Greens fast and lots of breaks. Some fairway bunkers came into play. Lots of trees came into play.
Great if you hit straight
I love this course. Very tough on you if you can't keep it in the fairway. The greens are very tricky but in excellent shape. My only complaint would be that the tee boxes need some major work.
Not Looking Good
There is lack of attention to this course. I have played many times over the years here and have never seen the course look SO bad. Overgrown in lots of areas sand traps with large rocks in them., and the edges of some greens were dirt. Either the owner is pocketing all of the money instead of putting it itno the course, or not enough play there and no $$ to put into it. I will not be returning anytime soon.
The course ate us up
As I no longer live in town, it had been a number of years since I played Wicked Woods, and I can tell you the trees have grown together since the last time I saw some of those fairways and driving alleys.
Course isn't long but there are a number of plus-400 yard par 4's, including one that was 478. Greens are undulating and sometimes tiered. Forest was full of balls, including many of our own. Creeks, swamps, ponds all over the place, including over hill rises (our downfall). Now this doesn't mean we didn't have fun or enjoy the course. Only that we couldn't handle the difficulty, especially on the greens where 3-putts were the order of the day. Bring your straight game and a hot putter.
Great Course
I love this course. Rarely crowded and it is challenging for a golfer like me (I shoot in the 90's). The short par 4's are nice. If you hit a good drive, you can use 9I or W into most greens. Very beautiful and picturesque course in the heart of Geauga County.
This course has several challenging holes
The greens and fairways were in great shape. There are a number of holes with water hazards lurking near the greens so be careful of not going too far left or right. The only complaint is there are no yardage markers on the N#7 hole which is a dogleg left. The greens are surprisingly slow but very receptive.
Course Closed for the day
It had rained in the morning and they decided to close the course without letting us know. While it did rain pretty hard for a bit, I had never seen a course go to that extreme and close most of the day. We ended up playing on a course down the road and conditions were perfect for golf by noon and didn't rain the rest of the day.
course plays tough for twice a month golfer
This course is about 20 years old and has filled in nicely. The tee boxes were a little rough but I felt the greens were in better then average shape.
The rough definitely needs to be cut down some.
You should not have to be right on top of the ball to find it when you are 1 foot off the fairwa.y
Perfect day!
This course played easier than it ever has for me. The greens were very slow. The course was in perfect shape. The staff was very friendly and the golfnow rate made it a great deal even with a bit of a drive from the Heights.
Slow Greens but true
This course was playing pretty well at this point in the season. Chuck has the facility in good to very good shape. Greens were a little slow, but true. No variance from hole to hole. A number of holes are shotmakers' holes and that adds to the challenge!
