Named after a native American word for maple forest, Manakiki Golf Course's defining feature is the abundance of maple trees that line the winding fairways. The course is a classic Donald Ross design. He incorporated a variety of challenges including tricky doglegs, water hazards, up-and-down holes, and two canyon holes. The holes themselves also cover a range from short to long and tight to open. Golfers should prepare themselves for a bevy of uneven lies, but the dramatic elevation changes also guarantee some scenic views throughout the golf course. There are also sand traps but their placement and number were thoughtfully considered to make Manakiki G.C. challenging but still playable. It is popular for this reason but also because it is one of the best rounds in northeast Ohio you can find for under $50.

- Just golfed here yesterday and course was not in good shape and it cost me 58.00 to play. Fairways were patchy, lot of bare spots. Fairways were aerated, which is ok, greens were not aerated in the same fashion as the fairways but had cuts and lines in them. I forgot what the golf attendant said what they were doing was called but the point being dont charge me full price when the course is not in good shape and the greens rolled poorly. Also, the two foursomes that has tee times immediately before us were late, BOTH of them! There was a half-hr. gap when nobody teed off and my threesome was just sitting around waiting. We could have been sent out and had three holes in before the tardy ones hit, If you are tardy for your tee time, oh well, you have to wait, should have been on time. After we got out the pace of play was terrible, we waited on every single hole to hit. Course was not in good condition, pace of pay was slow. Many better courses to play for the premium price that was paid.
