Need Good Iron Play
This is a short course that does not allow you to use your driver much. There are too many twists and turns on this course for that. If you don't hit it straight you can easily lose a few balls. It is a fun course if you are looking for a quick round and want to work on your short game. No beer on Sunday though.
Fun time!
I thought the course was in good shape. Tee boxes need some work and sand was in rough shape on a few holes . The staff are very friendly especially Carl . I would go back tomorrow if not for the 70 mile drive!
Deer pass
The course was somewhat difficult with firm and fast greens, also thick rough. But overall a great course to play for the rate.
Very fun course for a great value
Course is in pretty good shape, and is very fun to play. Some easier, open holes, some difficult holes with challenging hazards. Hard to beat for the prices you can get on GolfNow, I have played and will continue to play the course a lot.
Noisy!
Front nine needs attention, back nine was great fun. Several blind shots to greens on the back, we paid 6 bucks for 18 and a cart. Personally I would not pay over 15 to play here, freeway noise is a setback but if you don't mind the noise the back nine is worth playing here.
Nice greens, poor fairways/tee boxes
For the money I paid I can't really complain. But if I'm being honest, compared to other courses at the same price, the course needs tlc. The greens were excellent. The fairways were dry, hard, and in many places missing turf all-together. The tee boxes were so hard I could barely place my tee into the ground. Friendly and helpful staff. There is nothing they can do about it, but the constant noise from the highway on the front 9 was kind of annoying.
Improving year by year, and always enjoyable
Although Deer Pass has some recurring problems with maintenance and conditions in specific areas of the course, they try. Fairways and greens are almost always mowed, and there are constantly staff on the course. Course conditions have improved drastically through the past 2 years, but it still has a ways to go. If you pick up a Hot Deal, it is a tremendous value. Without a Hot Deal, I wouldn't play. And don't be fooled by the scorecard at less than 6,000 yards, it is not a total pushover; the greens are next to impossible to read and will leave you scratching your head. There is a good mix of holes, but there are also a couple "Mickey Mouse" holes (#2, #17). The back 9 has too many blind shots, but at less than 6,000 yards the course has to have at least one defense. It is an enjoyable course to play, and although the greens are generally slow, they roll smooth. Pace of play here is ALWAYS good. I have played here several 18 hole rounds at Deer Pass and have only ever played 9 slow holes. Most rounds usually end up at 4 hours or even a little less, even when the course is crowded.
Where do I start
I read the reviews before booking the tee time on this course and they were pretty positive. I was mislead the greens were like Velcro the holes were all reachable ( I played mostly a 3 wood the whole round), I saw people hitting into people from the blind greens. I was highly disappointed especially since it took me an hour to drive out there. To each their own but for me I will stick to windmill lakes and sleepy hollow.
Nice challanging doglegs, water holes, tight holes, hills and valleys. Everything if you enjoy a challange. A must play.
Can't wait to play there again. First time is tricky cause some of the holes you can't see until your almost on them. Fairways are a little dry and the greens are hard and fast. Very busy on Saturday that it took almost 5 hours cause of novice players when we were there so the next time will be during the week. ( I think there was a outing going on as well)
Challenging for average or above average players
The course is short compared to lots if others bit what it lacks in yardage it makes up for difficulty. There are a lot of blind shots on the course that make u really question where's the fairway? Or where's the flag? Greens were in perfect shape n were challeging at times as well. If you like having beer while you golf then don't go on sundays because they don't sell on sundays. I will definately be returning.
Greens are in excellent condition.
Friendliest staff you ever met. Most fairways are in great shape. Excessive rain does make some fairways mushy.
short, but can be fun
The front nine is super short, even from the back tees. Long hitters will be able to chip to all greens on the second shot. The front was flat and straight in front of you, and like I said short. But I enjoyed the back much more. Some very nice doglegs, and played a quite a bit longer. It is a great deal for the money and I would play it again at that price. If you are playing nine I would recommend the back.
Some very interesting holes!
A great value for the money. Some tough holes with unusual layouts, blind second shots, etc. My wife and I enjoyed it, and the play moved right along.
Area got hit with a lot of rain, but it's coming back. The greens and water hazards can be challenging ..
Will play here more, love the open views. Price is always good. Nice clubhouse .
Great location with nice people!
A course not far off highway which made accessibility a great thing! They were helpful in pro shop and the course was great, once greens were mowed early in morning.
This course has hidden greens
Overall the course was in great shape. I only have 1 complaint and it is minor, I thought too many greens that have blind shots into them and you cant see the ball land on the green.
This course has a great mix of holes...not like playing the same hole ovr and over again.
Course layout is diversified. Chad was very accomidating and friendly...all staff was friendly.
Great deal, but crowded
For $7.00 couldnt be beat. Front 9 was crowded but finished in 4:15. staff was very friendly and helpful. Will go back.
cheap, but you get what u pay for!
course is one of the cheapest around, but you get what you pay for. Back 9 is so cramped and fairways are on top of each other, that most times when teeing off, you see people dead straight in your fairway from the next fairway over! Many hidden greens, and always had to keep one eye open as I always had the feeling I was about to get blasted by an errant ball.
