unimpressed.....
The course was in pretty good conditon and most of the staff was friendly. However when making the turn on a hot sunny day I should not have had to ask the young lady working the concession counter four times to give me two cups (full) of ice! I tbink golf courses need to be mindful of the fact that golf is a very cerebral game and anything that the course staff does to detract from the course itself greatly diminishes the possibility of that patron returning. I know I am not going to drive 25 miles each way to play a course where ICE is an issue.....Very unimpressed!
Good, if a discounted price
Two females played this course. Felt that it was not marked clearly from hole to hole. Extra "red flags" along the course which added to the confusion. Several golfers (not us) were confused about the set-up for hole nine. There were two groups of four golfers in front of us who slowed play considerably, a ranger would have helped. The couple in front of us actually left after hole 12 due to the long wait from hole to hole.
Front 9 easy/back 9 hard
The front nine is a par 33 with 3 par 3's and the rest par 4's. Nothing over 330p yards.
Back 9 is par 37, 3 par 5's around 500yds.,2 par 3's ,1 180 yds. The course is in nice shape.
Tough but fair
Course was in pretty good shape.. Front was definately easier thatn the back... Greens in great shape and FAST... Better play Prov1 cuz they dont hold very easy... Lots of thinking and shot making needed... Had great time
Quick
I played as a single . People let me play thru, 18 holes with a cart in 1:45 minutes!
Sporty track
In great shape greens are as good as any in area . Lots of birdies as course is short yet fun to play
Deluge Sloppers
I played Kent State due to a rain out at Windmill Lakes. Needless to say it was a wet one out there. That being said however the course was in great condition given the torrential rains we had been having. My friend and I played a rather unconventional round as the staff was kind enough to allow us to jump past a juniors league that had just gotten underway. We started on #6 then played to 18 and finished on 1-5. It's definitely a short course even under the saturated conditions. The back nine is long compared to the front but par 5s are are EASILY reachable in 3. There are also a drivable par 4 maybe two. The par 3 17th is easily one of the tougher holes I've played this year (12 other courses) but not impossible. My only major complaint is the listed yardage on par 3 #2. It's listed at 150yds, IT ISN"T!!!! I promise you if you play it at 150 you will be on the #3 tee-box which is WELL beyond the green probably closer to 125.
Course > Pace
The course was is great shape. Couldn't beat the price for 18 and cart. ($20) But, when the deal is that affordable, they come out of the wood work, and it then takes 6 hrs to finish 18. We were not playing quickly by any means.
In general, I would definitely play the course again, but not if there was any chance of the round taking 6+.
Go Kent
Course was fairly challenging. Need to drain more water from fairways.
Great Course
This course was very plush! Greens are very true and in great shape. They have put alot of work into this course lately and it shows!
Good Value, Nice Course Conditions
Course was in great shape.. The gentleman working in the pro shop, was very helpful and made sure we got off in front of a ladies league so we wouldn't get held up. Its been almost 10 years since I played the course and for the deal we got on golf now around $14 for 18 and a cart, it can't be beat. The course is not very difficult, but the holes have character and the round was very enjoyable.
Good value
This course is a good beginner's course as the length is not that long on the front nine but the back nine challenges you with 3 par 5s. Course could be in a little better condition but was able to complete the round in 3 hours.
Great for a short course
This course has interesting holes, is well-groomed, and is great for an inexpensive round(I paid $16).
NICE COURSE FOR PLAYING
THE COURSE FIT MY GAME I AM NOT LONG OFF T
TROUBLE ON COURSE BUT NOT HARD TO AVOID
Brought back bad memories
For $12 for 18 holes and a riding cart, I shouldn't complain.....but...... I've played Kent State many times thru the years and you love the easy front 9 and hate the back nine. Front has too many easy par 4's that lull you into thinking you're playing well. As a senior, back 9 has too many long unreachable par 4's and 5's. The 17th hole is a guaranteed lost ball in the water. No wonder Kent's teams now play at Windmill Lakes. Even for low rates, I won't be back.
Weekends: Don't Bother
There were way too many people who weren't really golfers, who didn't understand golf etiquette, and no ranger to monitor a horrible situation where there were three groups backed up on multiple tees. Just collect the cash and let it happen. Good job KSGC.
Lousy
Not very well maintained cart paths... I am an Army vet and drove vehicle over bombed out roads smoother than these cart paths... So rough my bag worked loose and fell off back of cart, and it broke the shaft of my Cleveland driver. Smoother driving on ground next to paths... Course was ok, not well blown like other courses this late in year, lost a couple on the FAIRWAY..
Good coarse for intermediate golfers who want a challenge. Good coarse overall.
My wife and I are very competitive golfers and enjoy golf. We found this coarse a good challenge for us because it is not intimidating but still challenges your skill sets and helps you improve them. We like it and will continue to go there.
Glad I played
Fun course to play small but plays longer a few hills make the course longer.
