Course Has Closed
Dad that the course closed as the city said they were loosing money. I believe the course was designed by Alex Campbell and had 16 original 1929s greens. They were built up and full of character. Course was on flat terrain, but the large trees and greens provided plenty of charm.
This course is now closed
Sorry to see it go. The city of Springfield could no longer operate the coarse with out losing money. The coarse is currently growing and not being maintained. It was been decided to make it a garden and bird sanctuary per the stipulations set forth by the owners that donated the land. However, Reid North and South are open.... for now
It was a great coarse with a lot of history. Its just too bad that it ha to be shut down. I broke 80 here for the first time when I was 14, and had my second hole-in-1 on the 7th hole. My dad taught me to play there, and I taught my wife there. Its too bad i can pass on the tradition to my children.
The greens and fairway was in good condition
Snyder golf
Thought that restaurant staff was nice and courteous. I felt as if I was bothering the guy in the proshop when I asked for a tee time. When starting playing a couple in front of us would not let us pass them, they were only hitting 50 yards a time. We skipped a hole to pass them. The course has a lot of tight fairways. The next hole the couple we passed hit a ball right in front of me; I was in the middle of our fairway. A couple holes after that a single player caught up to us. We asked him if he wanted to pass us, he said no, he was just going to take extra shots. Two holes later I was on the green getting ready to putt. I saw a ball fly over my head; I turned to see where it came from. A minute later another ball flew over my head. They came from the jerk we asked if he wanted to pass us. I waited on him to catch me at the next tee. He said he didn't see me. When we was starting hole 10 I asked him to go in front us again. He said he was going to eat lunch. We played 10 then on 11 we let a twosome pass us. On 12 a ball hit my cart again I was in the middle of my fairway. I looked back, and the jerk was back. I picked his ball up and threw it into the woods. He stayed back and didn't say anything. When we were starting 18 another couple guys come over to talk with me, they said the jerk was messing with them as well. I hope I never see this guy again. I will never go back because of the jerk. This place needs a ranger. The greens and fairway was in good condition.
Nice and green
This course is in good shape. It was wet from rain but still played well. A bit narrow on a few holes, watch for flying golf balls. Greens were in great shape and most had some break.
Well maintained, tight course.
This is a well maintained course with narrow fairways. The greens and fairways were both very well kept. It is a flatter course, but fairways featured various dips and hills.
tight
slow play due to high school teams playing on all areas of the course
Layout is cramped but in good condition
Having played here before, I knew the fairways were narrow and the course is crammed into very little real estate. Watch for balls from other fairways! Greens were in good shape and the course was green. Staff was friendly and the prices for food/drinks at the restaurant were excellent!!
Very poorly marked
It was almost impossible to tell where you were at on the course due to no hole markings other than that it was a good experience well. Worth it I will return.
The course has been let go
We had heard that the course was in good condition.
It was a real disappointment to me.
Not only the golf course, but the condition of the entire park was shabby.
I grew up in Springfield and I can remember when Snyder Park was well maintained and a great place to enjoy golf, tennis, picnicking and fishing. The City Parks and Recs should do more
to improve the park.
Great open course that has some challenges and is fun to play.
Very enjoyable experience. Easy to make tee time, and staff has always been friendly. This is not the first time I have played here, and I have found it to be good every time. Fairways were in excellent condition.
Great course! Great golf! Great food! Friendly, attentive staff! We have a great time every time we golf at Snyder Park!,

Average length - average condition.
Played this course weekly until a couple years ago when conditions deteriorated due to a greens infestation. This was our first round back in quite some time and the course is progressing nicely. A few less trees than in years past but the fairways were in good condition. The rough was lush (thick) and longer than usual, making things a little more difficult for us. We played after overnight and morning rain showers so conditions were a little soggy but we had no one in front of us or behind us. Staff is always friendly and the snack bar prices are fair. Overall, we enjoyed a pleasant round at Snyder Park and plan to return regularly.
Nice Course
Some tight fairways are a challenge. Great atmosphere, very beautiful this time of year. I love to play this course.
Great Course.....No water hazards
This is a very good course....Frtendly Staff...a lot of fun
Park setting. Bluegrass fairways. Old Trees.
I like Snyder Park GC for a relaxing round of golf. Pace of Play is good. There is some water, bunkers on some greens, and old trees separate the fairways. There are four sets of tees. Play it forward and have FUN!
