Shale Creek Golf Club
Nestled in a quiet residential community, Shale Creek Golf Club sprawls across land that for a century prior had been the Gunkelman Farm. The course repurposes the rolling terrain into a challenging layout. The subtle changes in elevation make for some tricky lies. There are also many streams that meander through the golf course before cascading into the nearby Rocky River. The river even comes into play from the 10th to the 15th holes. The golf course features large, undulating greens and wide fairways. Water has a dominant presence on the course but the final holes showcase more traditional Ohio terrain with wooded, gently rolling hills though you'll still have plenty of water to contend with on these holes. Shale Creek Golf Club requires accuracy and it will make you think, but it's not too difficult for a beginner to enjoy.

Extremely overpriced imo. Greens were in decent shape for early September. Fairways ok. I couldn't tell from the course photos published on their site that there are houses on top of nearly every fairway and/or green. I do not enjoy playing golf with people yelling and running around in their back yards while I try to play and worrying about the slightest errant shot winding up in someone'S yard or worse hurting someone who's out in their yard.
The course was well enough maintained, but very much overpriced alone without the fact that the design and playing in people's back yards every hole is not even remotely enjoyable. This was my worst round of golf all year from an enjoyment POV. I will never return.
