Although it's located less than a half hour from Columbus, Cooks Creek Golf Club (formerly known as Raintree South Golf Club) feels much further thanks to its beautiful natural surroundings. The course is next to a Blue Heron rookery and it is also frequently visited by a variety of other wildlife. The golf course is one of central Ohio's premier public courses and it has become a local favorite not only because of the challenging round but also because the conditions are consistently excellent. There is plenty of water throughout with both the Little Walnut Creek and Scioto River bordering the course. The diverse layout calls for creative shot making and thoughtful strategy. It's a course where you're sure to use every club in your bag. Even the best golfers will be presented with a formidable test at Cooks Creek Golf Club, but multiple sets of tees allow golfers to play to their skill level.

One of my favorite courses because it offers many levels of challenge. I really love this course and miss playing it. When I'm next in Columbus, I plan on getting over to it and trying to stay out of water trouble. The longest tees have really difficult tee shots over water - pro level stuff. When I was playing my best I could get over the water but couldn't always reach the fairways. And I was pretty good. But it's a beautiful and challenging course.

We felt like we'd snuck onto property that used to be a golf course, but had been abandoned for a couple years. The greens are a mix of crabgrass and dirt patches. The fairways are non-existent. The whole place just feels sad and dying. Too bad, as it looks like it used to be a great layout.

One of the nicer courses in central ohio but is really expensive for the area. At $45-50 I'd give it a 4 star rating but the value just isn't there at $65 a round
